English Phonetics Course: University Students’ Preferences and Expectations

چکیده

This paper examines the perspectives of Polish university students English (n=110) on selected aspects after pronunciation instruction they underwent during their phonetics course. It shows qualitative questionnaire results obtained by means four open-ended statements. sheds light on: accent preference, reasons why favoured and disfavoured course expectations from tutor. The reported a positive impact training speaking overall English/language skills, sounding native-like, good, being understood. They admitted to disliking rules, theory phonetics, unexpected words. In addition, expected responsibilities tutor comprised: correction students’ helping them improve this skill. confirms that nativeness principle learning still prevails as wish sound nativelike expect teacher give corrective accuracy-based feedback.
